KP Learning Designs

About Me

I’m a lifelong learner whose relentless curiosity and love of learning shape my work as an educator and learning designer. With over a decade of experience designing curriculum in high-rigor classrooms where learning has to be clear, engaging, and effective. These experiences have driven how I approach design. I focus on making complex ideas more approachable without watering them down, building learning experiences that help learners understand not just what they’re doing, but why it matters and how this new knowledge can benefit them.

I prioritize real-world relevance and purpose in my work, creating opportunities for learners to connect new knowledge to meaningful application. My goal is to design experiences that move beyond completion and support genuine understanding, confidence, and long-term skill development.

Where I’m Going…

Where I’ve Been…

With a Bachelor’s degree in English and eight years of classroom teaching experience, I built a strong foundation in instructional strategy and learner-centered design.

In my current role teaching a high-rigor, high-stakes secondary course, I design assessments, learning experiences, and instructional systems that prepare students for demanding standardized evaluations. This work requires tight alignment between learning objectives, practice, and measurable outcomes, an approach that directly shapes how I think about instructional design.

I have also contributed curriculum and assessment content to external platforms such as Albert.io, developing standards-aligned materials designed to support student mastery at scale.

And At Rest?

My Master’s degree in Library Science further strengthened my expertise in research, information organization, and information, media, and digital literacies. These skills support every stage of my design process, from conducting needs analyses to organizing complex information and evaluating the effectiveness of learning solutions.

Across my work, I prioritize clarity, accessibility, and measurable impact. I’m especially interested in making complex ideas more approachable without oversimplifying them and in designing learning experiences that help people actively engage with and apply what they’re learning.

As I transition from the classroom into learning design, I’m focused on building clear, thoughtful experiences that support performance in real-world contexts. I’m particularly drawn to projects that translate complex information into structured, practical learning that people can confidently use in their work.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two daughters, watching movies, exploring new restaurants, and slowly but steadily making my way through my ever-growing “to-read” list.

I also enjoy crocheting and occasionally revisiting the worlds of Nancy Drew video games or The Sims!
